it’s the most wonderful time of the year (=

// December 20th, 2007 // Comments Off // Friends, Holidays, Life, Love, UST

Hands down, this is the best Paskuhan yet. It just keeps getting better, I swear. :) All the shit I’ve been through all year, erased… Just because I spent time with some of the people I love & enjoy the company most. I don’t need to drop names–they know who they are. Thanks for the gifts, the escapades, and the great time we all had last night. It was a truly memorable one. :)

Probably the only thing I didn’t like about that night was the hurt I felt seeing this certain someone, looking at me, even if he’s with his significant other. I know they’re happy. But somehow I wish he wasn’t at all bitter towards me, it’s not like it’s my fault we’re not meant for each other. I don’t like this feeling–yung nagkakailangan. It’s way too hard, and it feels like such a waste, especially now that it’s the yuletide season. Magdodonate na sana ako nung hinihingi mo, kaso nag inarte ka, hmp!

But anyway, thanks to the UAAP Family. Tigers, Tams, Warriors (kahit di sumipot yung isa jan, lagot ka sakin! haha), and of course the VIP & Adiks. Again, no need to mention names. I’m saying this from the bottom of my heart: you’re all special to me and I thank you for this night worth remembering. I really love you guys.

PS: Ikaw. Oo ikaw. Namiss kita, alam mo na kung sino ka (= See you on my birthday, promise yan ha? (=

i love him. :)

// September 24th, 2007 // Comments Off // Rant, Sports, UST

Kala mo kung ano na ‘no? Haha. GOTCHA. (=

I love Coach Tatay (known to many as Coach Pido). I (along with some other lucky few) have gotten to know him more than just UST’s head coach. To us, he was like a father, watching over us and taking care of each and every one of us.

The “Growling Tigers Family” (teams A & B, coaching staff, “Pido’s Angels,” “Tomo Yaw” and others*) will always be a part of me. The UST Gym will always be my second home. The blood of a Tiger will always run through my veins. Ok, some may say I’m overdoing the drama… SO WHAT? This is my true second family, believe me or not.

This is my last year as a Thomasian student, or corny as it may be, an “USTedyante.” Yet, it’s one of the most memorable and happy years of my life. Since pre-season I’ve been juggling my schedule just to make time for my family, my schoolwork/OJT, and these people in my second home. It was well worth it.

People have come and gone, and believe me I miss them all… They’ve become so close to my heart that it gets broken everytime someone hangs up his jersey or coaching uniform to venture on to bigger things. Sooner or later, I’ll be the one leaving… But I’ll always come back… UAAP season or not, expect to see me roaming around the campus. Mangangamusta lang naman. After all, among the “VIP” I’ll be the first to graduate. May alumni na kayong hihingan ng ticket!! Joke. Magbabagsak ako ng isang subject para hindi pa ‘ko alumni! Haha :p

Anyway, the point is… *drumroll please* When I told the Tigers that I’ll ALWAYS be here, no matter what, I mean it. Napamahal na ako sa kanilang lahat–they’re like brothers, fathers and uncles to me…and of course my forever “katambays sa gym” are more than sisters. The GTF spawned friendships I’ll never forget. I really do love them. And I love our Coach Tatay. That’s that.

So to those thinking negatively of my “family,” manigas kayo. You know NOTHING about what’s going on, so don’t assume ANYTHING. Coach Pido cried for a deeper reason than you may think, and I respect him for being human and showing the guts to cry himself out even if stupid-ass people may think really, REALLY WRONG about him.

TIGERS FOREVER… VIVA SANTO TOMAS!

PS: Sawa na ako sa mga naninisi ng talo kay Japs. Shut the hell up, you should know better. Boo. He’s an awesome point guard and a good person, so that’s that too.

EDIT: The “others” I referred to: PT (sina JC, Beck, James at George), CSR (Diane Querrer), former players (Jojo, Jemal, Allan, kuya Ge & others), Jaren (Pido Jr.), Marino (the waterboy) and all the other utility guys & staff, tsaka mga gf ng players (Lyka, Rizelle, Leslie & Paz), alumni friends (“Adiks” & others) mga moms nila, at wives ng coaches na nameet namen… I give credit where credit is due naman eh. Sa mga di ko nabanggit, sorry. Windang po ako, hint me & I’ll add you to this entry, urkei? ;)

Viva Santo Tomas!

// October 5th, 2006 // Comments Off // Sports, UST

DISCLAIMER: To non-Filipinos, this post might mean no sense. Haha.

“We are the Tigers, the mighty mighty Tigers. We came to cheer and to WIN IT WITH NO FEAR.”

I am a Journalism junior at the University of Santo Tomas, and ever since my freshman year I’ve been one of the (very) few who supported our basketball team (the UST Growling Tigers), win or lose. Part of my reason is because I’ve been into the sport since I was a kid. Another reason is because (duh) I study in this particular school. And finally, some of the players are my friends/acquaintances—which is probably the biggest factor.

In my first year, I watched 1 winning game & 2 losing games out of 14 in the UAAP, plus a bunch more in different leagues. During my second year, I watched 1 losing game & 1 winning game, also out of 14 in the UAAP, and some more in different leagues again. But this year, apart from supporting my friend Jojo Duncil & his team (TeleTech Titans) in the PBL all summer, I watched 14 out of 18 games this season of the UAAP. And the UST Growling Tigers emerged as the champions after a 10-year drought.

They started out as underdogs—winning no more than 10 games in the previous 2 seasons (more often than not, I went home from the live venue or turn the TV off disappointed), and only 2 out of 6 in the first elimination round. They have been eyed by the top-seeded teams as a loser team, a team that can be beaten even by the bottom team (who usually don’t win a single game in each season). Yes, the first round may have hurt their ego yet again, but with a new coach in the picture, it also meant a challenge has to be met. Coach Pido Jarencio, a former UST Glowing Goldies player, became the breath of fresh air that the team needed after Coach Aric del Rosario left.

Like I’ve been emphasizing in the previous paragraphs, I’m one of the few who really supported this team who showed great potential since the day I first saw them in action. I always thought to myself, they look good out there, too bad they don’t realize it. Shame, right? But for some reason, this season was very different. True, circumstances may have seemed to be against them. Half the team would be in sickbay, a player was injured severely, another was suspended (who could forget that Duncil-Catamora headbutting incident?), or simply just out of touch. Alas, they still had a positive outlook even after a humiliating game with a 36-point deficit during the final game of the 1st round. Since that experience, they started working even harder than ever. They had a 3-game winning streak in the 2nd round, even beating the top (and then-undefeated) team in the league.

Ending with a 6-6 win-loss card, the Tigers came head to head with another team who had the same stats, and beat them in that game. This put the team not just into the coveted Final Four, but it landed them the 3rd spot (which goes to battle with the #2 team). Since the top 2 teams have a twice-to-beat advantage, the Tigers had to work extra hard & prove that they are worthy of getting into the finals. And yes, they beat that school twice (this time with their complete lineup with the exception of Jemal Vizcarra who had an ACL injury), got into the Finals & jumped for joy. But it didn’t stop there—they had to work again. I remember a friend of mine in the team, June Dizon, told me that they’ll have to work even harder, that nothing can be achieved without hard work. True, I said to myself. At least they know the reality of what the situation they earned.

They proved themselves already. They’ve gotten farther than their goal (coach Pido & team captain Allan Evangelista told us during an interview that they only wanted to reach the Final Four). So when they got into the Finals and lost Game 1 of the Best of 3 series against Ateneo de Manila University (the top team, playing with a 11-2 card pre-Finals), I didn’t feel that disappointed. Sure, they may have lost by 1 point in 1 second, but to hell with it. They’ve gone this far! To me, it’s already more than enough.

However, however… Game 2 was a shocker for most (not for me though). They beat ADMU by 6 points, owning all the quarters and showing they wanted & deserved to win. Two of my friends/favorite players stepped up their game that day. Dylan Ababou (a guy I’ve known since we were 5 years old) put in 22 points, while Jojo Duncil sank in 20. It was a well-faught game, I can assure you of that. Also, it was my brother’s birthday. I watched it with him & his wife so we could celebrate it, then go home & celebrate some more. Hehe. It was a great night.

The next day, I woke up at 4am with only 2 hours of sleep. I arrived at the Araneta Coliseum around 6:20am with an empty stomach, bag-ladden eyes & lots of determination. After hours of waiting? I didn’t get tickets. Boo. Went to sleep earlier than usual (for me anyway), and woke up 3:45am. Arrived at Araneta before 6am. Did I get tickets? No. And that was the day of Game 3! I was so frustrated, I almost cried. Actually, when my brother dropped by to check on me, I did cry. Pathetic, right? I know. But after 2 sleepless nights, endless lines where people kept cheating (think I was one of the first 100 who arrived and ended up with a stub of #449). Bullshit.

Thank the heavens then that a friend of mine had a ticket for General Admission seats. But after all this hardship, it still sucked. I eventually got a ticket for a better seat for Php500 (the original price of the ticket was Php100), but I didn’t care. All that mattered to me was I had a better seat, one that I deserved for all the hardship I’ve been through. It’s all worth it anyway.

During the entire game, I was at a loss for words. Sure, I cheered & screamed the whole time, but when the crucial minutes came about, I just stood there, motionless, praying for a miracle. The game went into overtime, both teams with fouled-out players, both in penalty, both hungry for the championship title. The difference? One team wanted it more. One team worked for it even more. One team, I guess in a way, deserved it more. Their shots were in, their moves were almost void of errors, they had everything on their side. It was a see-saw game, up till the very end. Final score? 76-74 in favor of UST.

I couldn’t believe it. WE WON!!! Before the overtime, I looked at the crowd and had the feeling that I needed to pinch myself to make sure it was all real. Now, after the final buzzer, I jumped & screamed like there was no tomorrow. I hugged my friend who was with me, I felt that my whole family was teary-eyed for me (knowing I went through so much just to support the team in their final game), and I knew that my friends in the team are overjoyed because they worked too damn hard for this. I’m at a loss for words as to how I felt that night, so it could be an obvious fact that up till now, they might still be at a loss for words too.

That night, however, it rained. Sure my brother & I had fun watching the cheering squads & drumlines having a go at it, playing stupid jokes and acting like old buddies. However, I missed the first victory party at my school. It was a Monday night, so those who were still there had a great time eating, partying & watching fireworks. Day 2, there was a victory parade plus a constant replay of Game 3 all over campus. Day 3 (yesterday), we had a thanksgiving mass, then a free concert party. Tons of great bands, fun moments with the team & such. And up till last night, I’ve been seeing them on TV nonstop, even today in the newspaper, my friend Jojo was in the sports section again.

I’m glad our school regained our glory. Congratulations not just to the Senior Mens’ Basketball Team, but also to the Womens’ Basketball Team (and other sports I believe our school became champions in). You guys deserve the glory. You guys rock.

My sincerest congratulations to my friends in the team: Dylan Ababou, Japs Cuan, June Dizon, Jojo Duncil, Allan Evangelista, Mel Gile, Chester Taylor & Jemal Vizcarra. Congrats also to coach Pido, and the rest of the team: Franciz Allera, Mark Canlas, June Cortez, Jervy Cruz, Anthony Espiritu & AC Marquez.

John Lee Apil, you’re the Tigers’ official angel. Rest in peace. (=

Mind is blank. Title-less.

// August 22nd, 2006 // Comments Off // Computer, Family, Life, Sports, UST

Hi. Remember me? Yes, I still exist. Sorry I’ve been such a slacker again. College is keeping me busy but I’m really trying my best to maintain this thing, and obviously I’m failing. Psssh.

Anyway, this weekend has been interesting. Last Sunday I went shopping with my mom & got myself a laptop. Woohoo!! It’s an ACER Aspire 3640 and so far it’s been serving me pretty well. (= My dad also gave me money to buy new socks, so I bought six new pairs. He has this belief that I wear the same pair of socks everyday (not true) so I might as well take advantage. LOL.

So the past two weeks since I updated have been pretty hard on me. It’s probably part of the reason why I don’t get online that often—I’ve been in and out of depression. I’m not even myself anymore! I don’t enjoy things like I used to because I was far too distracted to care about what now seem to be of less priority. If you’re really curious as to why I’ve been problematic, then fine. It’s about Charlie. I know I said we’re still good friends (and it’s still true), but this whole situation is driving me crazy. I can’t really explain at the moment, but when I’m ready, I will. I’m getting better by the day, but it’s just not right all the same. I’m just hoping this whole dilemma will end soon.

Anyway, last Saturday my school won a basketball game! They finally recovered after quite a slump, and I’m so proud of them. I’m gonna watch them again this Thursday with some friends, and hopefully they win it and all three succeeding games. If half the team weren’t my friends… Haha.

PS: I shall update the rest of this website when I finally get the motivation. Cross your fingers! Haha

oh lordy.

// June 8th, 2006 // 41 Comments » // Family, Life, Site Updates, UST

Wow, I managed to not update for more than 3 weeks again… I’m such a bum. Like I said, I just looooove neglecting my site. Que in sarcasm… now. Looks like I’ve been going out way too many times this summer. I’m here at my mom’s office again, but damn I can’t wait till I get my laptop. Mom said I’ll get it by the end of the month. I’ll make proper updates then, alrighty?

Anyway, school’s starting soon here in the Philippines. In my school we start on June 14th, and oh my God my schedule is strange. Mondays/Wednesdays from 3-9 pm, Fridays from 8-11 am & 3-9 pm, and Saturdays from 4-7 pm. It may take a while to get used to.

Other stuff I’ve been up to while I was gone…
May 19 – I went partying with Charlie, GP & Joyce at The Basement; I had 2 Margaritas & a beer; photos from the morning after
May 20 – I went out with all my siblings to a place called Tiendesitas to eat & shop; later that night we went to Nineteen20 to celebrate Chester’s birthday—I had another Margarita plus a blueberry Vodka Cruiser.
May 21 – woke up with a massive headache, but I still had to go to the mall to get my cellphone charger which I accidentally left at Charlie’s.
May 23-24 – had a mild case of sore eyes for 2 days so I got prescription eye drops
May 25Charlie accompanied me to get pictures of me taken for an audition
May 26 – Jerome’s birthday. I saw “X-Men: The Last Stand” with Charlie, Joyce, Kay & Jade—I loved the movie so much
May 27 – I went to another mall with my sister Larraine; she got a haircut while I waited in a computer shop. After that, we ate at Bread Talk, roamed around for a bit, then went to the dermatologist & got ourselves some facials. Ahhh.
May 31 – Went swimming with Charlie, Joyce , Cyrian, Verity, Jackie & Kay
June 1 – I saw my crush in school & talked to him for a bit. Hehe. I auditioned for Philippine Idol; Charlie was there to support me. It went ok but I wasn’t accepted.
June 2 – I went to enrol for my junior year. Saw my crush outside school & joked around for a bit with him. (= Went out that night with my brother Jonas & sister Doreen… had 2 blueberry Vodka Cruisers and a Tequilla Sunrise.
June 3 – Slept over at my sister Doreen’s house & we went shopping in the afternoon.
June 4 – Dad’s birthday. We celebrated it here at home, giving him gifts & then eating lunch together.
June 5 – I went with Charlie to help him pick out a gift for a friend of ours who’s celebrating her birthday today, June 8th (hi Joyce) hehe.
June 6 – GP’s birthday; I watched a rerun of Prison Break, nothing too significant

More updates: both dVINTAGEshop & vintagePORTAL are back; and more new photos are added here, here, here & here. And my fanlisting is now up thanks to Shari!

and since i’ve been gone…

// April 24th, 2006 // Comments Off // Friends, Life, Love, Site Updates, Sports, UST

It seems like for the past few entries I always start with an apology. But really, I am sorry for neglecting this thing that’s apparently my website. Don’t think I’ve forgotten any of you or anything, ok? I’m using the ancient computer at my mom’s office (lol) because I still have no internet on my computer & I’m itching for it really bad. I do try to go online every now & then but only for like 30 minutes at a time. That totally sucks.

So in the past month I…
• celebrated my sister’s birthday & went bowling with the family (April 1) – photos
• dreamt I was in a tornado with Wentworth Miller (April 3)
• watched basketball games (numerous times) – photos
• hung out at my ex-boyfriend’s house twice
• saw someone naked BY ACCIDENT (don’t ask)
• hung out with my family a couple of times
• got my grades & found I passed all my subjects (April 10)
• watched Ice Age 2 then hung out with friends at home (also April 10)
• got addicted to “Prison Break” & “Veronica Mars”
• written 4 new songs (all before Easter)—which I will upload when I get the chance!
• have been eating like a ton of chocolate, mushrooms & green mangoes
found out a schoolmate of mine died while saving his friends’ lives (April 16)
• went clubbing but got disappointed with the crowd (April 18) – photos
• got gnawed on my leg by a dog thanks to GP (April 19)
• attempted to make a new layout for this site… (also April 19)
• finally logged onto MySpace again (April 20)
• freaked out & almost had a heart attack because of a damn basketball game i watched (April 23)
• tried redeeming myself by commenting back on everyone *wink*

Please take a moment & pray for the soul of my schoolmate John Lee Apil. He passed away last April 15 while attempting to save two of his friends from electrocution. He is an amazing athlete of our university and a good friend to everyone who knew him.

I’d say more but I’m really tired & lazy. Ciao!

we’re devils & black sheep & really bad eggs

// March 8th, 2006 // Comments Off // Friends, Life, Love, Sports, UST

It seems my social life has kept me away from the computer for like the longest time. So yeah, that’s the reason why I have been neglecting this site a lot. Heehee.

This day started out alright, although I had no energy because I skipped breakfast to reach school on time. School was fine… not much crap went on. Ok, there was a little. During handball, I got hit on the chin with a mf’ing ball! Screw that team of royal blue-wearing IDIOTS. Where in the world have you seen such a bunch of sourpussies who get mad even when they’re obviously winning?!?! I HATE THEM & their pathetic guts!!

Phew. Calm. Anyway, moving on… After lunch, Loureck was saying crazy stuff to us & it was hella funny. I miss that guy in our class, hehe. And Charlie was taking pictures of everyone who ate this candy called Yakee. Basically, it’s a gum ball with an insanely sour candy coating. You could just imagine all our faces wrinkling up because we couldn’t take the, er, sourness.

Yesterday I hung out with Lance for a bit, while she was waiting for her checkup. Then I went with friends to a karaoke lounge & sang our hearts out for 2½ hours. We had beers, snacks, and of course our vocal chords & dancing talents for amazing eargasms. HAHAHA. I also tasted this strange bittersweet chocolate with raisins & almonds… It was inexpensive & really good! I love chocolate (sorry, Michelle).

Monday, what did I do last Monday? I don’t know! Hold on… I’ll try to recall. Er… I think not much went on in class so we got out early. I ate lunch with Charlie & Joyce, then we just hung out near the football field for a while. I also kept buying Yakee a lot, which I believe made me hyper (and even a little crazy).

Sunday was my 13th month with Charlie, but my family had to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday that day as well. I ate lunch with the family, and we hung out for a while till when they had to all go home.

Saturday was my adventure day with Paula… lol! We went to Ateneo to watch a basketball game, but we ended up getting lost inside that huge campus! Talk about a laugh trip. =p Sadly, our school lost by 7 points after an overtime. Oh well. They did a great job during the previous games anyway.

Oh my, this post is long. Yep, that’s about it, I believe. I’m tired now. I have to sleep ‘cause I’ve got a skit to do in Speech class tomorrow. I’m doing the island scene from “Pirates of the Carribean” with Charlie. Wish us luck ;p

rawr. attack of the vampire..?

rawr. attack of the vampire..?

I hadn’t realized that it’s nearly a week since I last updated anything!! Bad, Imee. Really bad. Sorry guys… this week has been quite a rollercoaster for me! Let’s see if I can recall the events properly.

Today was our exposure trip (pictures are here). I’m too fricken tired & lazy to elaborate though. But it was really fun… boring & annoying at certain times, but hey… When you’re with friends, you can make anything fun! *cheesy…lol*

Yesterday… well school was quite a snore, actually. As in Zzzzzzzz… (hehe). I hung out with Charlie & Verity in the library after our lunch with our friends. When Charlie had to go home, Verity & I had quite a bonding time, hehe.

Wednesday, not much classes either. Our handball class got cancelled, so I went home. But then Paula sent me a text message telling me there’s a basketball game, so I went back to school & watched it with her. Our school won of course! Then when I got home I had a random text chat with Jojo & Paula until we all eventually got too tired, lol.

Tuesday… we watched a movie in Philosophy class. It was “Gattaca” starring Ethan Hawke (a hottie…hehe), Jude Law & Uma Thurman. In my opinion it was a really good movie. I mean, considering that I wanted to skip class so bad… I guess you could say I was drawn to the story. I highly recommend it. Then after class I went to Charlie’s to hang out.

I had a long weekend!! Monday… no classes again, same reason as last Friday. Blahhh. So I just relaxed. Saturday & Sunday I was just at home, nothing really special happened. I barely even remember anything…

I guess I really shouldn’t allow myself to not write a journal entry within two or three days.

get my television fix, sitting on my crucifix

// February 25th, 2006 // Comments Off // Life, Music, Rant, UST

Damn it, we had no classes yesterday. Just perfect, when I got so much planned. Grrr. I was actually excited because I knew for a fact that two of our professors were out, so I could have more time to hang out with everyone. But nooo. People just have to spread the “news” about a coup ‘d etat going on. Right on, bitches.

Yesterday, as a result, was a blah day for me. I woke up early, ready & on the way to school. We then heard on the radio that all classes are suspended. What do I do now, I thought? Well for starters you could eat a proper breakfast for once, missy. So I went to change, then ate the rest of my lasagna. Then all day I just stayed in the living room & watched TV. After hours of boring myself to death, I eventually fell asleep in the afternoon & woke up in the middle of the night. I had a massive headache so I just texted Eric to distract myself. When I couldn’t handle the pain anymore, I slept again & woke up at 4:30 am. Like wow.

Thursday was alright… just a bit of schoolwork but nothing too serious. The day went by like a breeze. I finally got to do my report in Biology, which went by ok in my opinion. I also found out I had a pretty good recitation grade in Philosophy (apparently 93-95 was the range, woohoo). That gave me hope because my exam wasn’t so hot. Haha.

Last Wednesday was also a breeze, because we only had two subjects. Wow, a break from 9 am – 3 pm. So we had an early lunch, me & my friends… But Charlie & I had PE class after that. We were forced to “watch” the fitness contest (eew), signed the attendance sheet & went home.

Well my mom found my missing guitar strings, so to cure my current boredom I shall now force myself to write songs & play guitar again. I haven’t in weeks! Then I’ll reward myself with Belgian truffles that melted into one big blob so I have to slice it before I can eat. Or green mangoes & fish sauce (aka bagoong) ‘cause it’s a Filipino thing. Hahaha.

tumblebugs

// February 9th, 2006 // Comments Off // Computer, Life, Love, Site Updates, UST

I’m here at my mom’s office, playing games I downloaded from GameHouse. This is a surefire way to cure my boredom—crazy computer games. Ahahaha.

So lately I’ve been up to not much. I swear I have memory lapses because I haven’t been updating. Yes, it’s sad that I rely on my online/offline journals to remember the days that went by. =p Let’s see.

School has been fine… two quizzes today got postponed for next week. Muwahahaha. Lectures haven’t been as boring as they used to. I’ve actually been paying attention lately! Grrr. And yesterday during my handball class I actually got a decent grade for the drills… ahaha! (=

Lovelife. Man. Lately Charlie & I have been fighting. And it’s not one of those petty fights couples usually have. No, it’s the type when both of us piss each other off so bad. I blame this all on the fact that I’m PMS’ing again. Nothing that a little of my fave chocolate couldn’t cure though! ;p

Domain news… this thing is expiring soon. Annoucement also to my hostees: please remove unnecessary files from the domain (I have like 2.5 MB left now..damn). And to inactive hostees, inform me if you’re still gonna use the space or I might delete you.

What else, what else… Oh yeah. I’m bored!!! Can’t wait for the weekend… lol!
