broken strings

James Morrison & Nelly Furtado said you can’t play on broken strings. And by golly, I think they’re right. There’s five guitars in this house, and none of them are working at the moment. One is my sister Doreen’s guitar, which she kind of abandoned. It is super out of tune, out of shape, and has a broken 1st string. The other is my dad’s, which was what I was using for the past few weeks. It just died on me yesterday – its 1st string broke as well.

The other three guitars here at home are mine, but alas, none of them work. My first guitar, the one pictured on the left, broke. I don’t even remember how or why it did! My second guitar is the one whose 2nd string’s peg broke just yesterday. My third, which is probably my favorite, is a blue acoustic that you could connect to an amp. Somebody dropped it when I was a senior in high school, and nobody would own up to doing so. My mom said I could probably get those fixed after we get the van fixed. I suggested that I’d just display the broken guitars & get a new one instead; my dad said it would take up a LOT of space. He’s right, given that I have the tiniest room in the house.

So here I am, left with no guitar, and feeling like I just lost a limb. I suppose I could tinker with my electronic keyboard, but I’m not a very good piano player. HA! Maybe this is some sort of signal that I should go back to playing it… I have abandoned that thing except for using it to tune guitars. Although lately I have developed some sort of interest in it again – I did try learning the piano parts of Fightstar’s “Floods” and Evanescence’s “My Immortal” this week. I’ve been trying my hand on “The Scientist” by Coldplay last night as well.

Oh, and I’ve been writing a couple of songs lately… None of them are super 100% completely finished. So with my music on indefinite hold… I’ll just blab on about what I’ve been doing in my life for the past month or so.

I should let some of you know I auditioned for this year’s MYX VJ search, but no callbacks from them. Haha. I didn’t do fantastic in my audition spiel, I mean it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t da bomb if you get my meaning. What else, what else. Ah, I went to Enchanted Kingdom with my friends Vanessa, Ickay and Cheng, as well as her friend Rona. We of course went on rides & stuff, but we also went there to support my friend Hadi in his musical “Electrifying Kiss of Summer.” Oh, and I’m also excited that Lee DeWyze is the new American Idol. Love him. He was hilarious last week on Ellen, during Know or Go. Hahaha

I’ve also been updating some of my pages all over teh interwebs. My Twitter has a new simple/minimalistic yet still grungy design. My MySpace page is totally revamped, and I did pretty well with it if I do say so myself. I also redesigned my Tumblr, so if you’re into that kind of blogosphere, then add me up – I follow back! My Facebook could always use a couple more fans/likes, and you can always ask me a question if you’re bored or curious

I’m excited that I have a bunch of celebrities following me back on Twitter. Ellen DeGeneres, John Vesely (Secondhand Serenade), Gavin DeGraw, Tim Urban, Vera Mesmer (previously known as Chris Turner of Reveille), and just today, Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy). I don’t know if the real Bob Proctor is following me, but I guess that counts. INSANE, huh? I think I’m now famous by association. LOL. One time, I was this close to getting followed by Shannen Doherty. I’m also working on getting the attention of Charlie Simpson and Alex Band. I want Amy Lee to follow me as well, ’cause she’s my idol, but I don’t think she does that. Damn it, what does a girl have to do to get these peoples’ attentions?! Hahaha. I’m kidding of course. I’m not that desperate, but it would really be mega cool though.

Yesterday was my dad’s 67th birthday. Could you believe it?! I think we’re celebrating it tomorrow with the whole family. We were supposed to go out of town, but since the van isn’t okay and there aren’t enough fixed vehicles to fit all eight of us, well… I guess we’re just staying in. I wonder what we’ll be feasting on. I hope there’s ice cream

PS: Does anybody have a vacuum cleaner they’re willing to lend (or possibly give) to me? There’s a dust bunny in my room, and you know how fast bunnies get when it comes to multiplying…

I’m currently working on a little something special. It’s an audition for a very popular show right now, which I got invited to at MySpace. I don’t know if they found me and want me to audition, or they’re just adding random people, hahaha. Either way, it’s good! So at the moment I’m just practicing the song I chose from their list, and I’m trying to memorize the lyrics & the guitar chords. I’ll be able to shoot the video either tomorrow or on Thursday, and I will post the link when it’s done!

Lately I’ve felt so inspired. Aside from that thing I just mentioned, I am also working on something else. It’s a song I’ve been writing, and I sort of got stuck for a while. Now, though, I feel the urge within me to finish it. Hopefully my efforts will be recognized, enough for me to be featured on a certain talk show.

Hmm, what else. Oh yeah, I’m trying to go to a friend’s show out of town as I promised him. Some of my friends already agreed to go with me, but we don’t have a means of transportation. My family has a means of transportation, or two, or three… Except, I haven’t fully convinced them yet. I just want to be able to spend time with these people & take a pretty good vacation at the same time.

I gotta go now ’cause it’s just too hot where I’m at. I need a little cool-down of some sort…

about time I update this

So it’s been what, a month? What’s up y’all? Riiight, like anyone still reads this besides my crazy former coworkers (that’s right, I’m onto you guys). lmfao

Hmm. Okay, first off I’m now officially jobless. HAHAHA. I like it, doing nothing for a while. Thinking of doing some freelance writing and/or SEO. I actually liked my former job… It’s the commute to & from the office that kinda killed me.

Next, family. Celebrated birthdays (my dad’s, my mom’s, then my sister’s) and father’s day all over the place. At home, at the mall, everywhere. Family time is love

What else? Oh yeah. My social life. Been hanging out with a lot of friends & coworkers lately. Eating out & drinking with the latter, mostly. With friends, well let’s just say the DreamGirls are back in the UAAP

Speaking of which… UST and FEU are doing amazing in said league. My Final Four picks for this season, in no particular order: UST, FEU, UE and ADMU. UST will emerge as the champion (sorry FEU pals, haha).

Music-wise, my iPod is nearly full! Really! I never thought I could fill up 30gigs of space with over 10 thousand songs plus a bunch of movies & videos. But I’m not buying a new one anytime soon. I could use a new mobile phone though… iPhone or BlackBerry? But I might buy a camera first, before I start buying a phone and a Macbook. Ah whatever. Come September I’ll be rich anyway

I need inspiration… To write music, to watch UAAP basketball, to find work, to clean my room!

new site look & new stuff

A few new things to notice about the site:

• There’s Google ads. Hey, I need money too.
• I changed the layout. I used a customizable WP theme.
• The music page went berserk, for reasons I can’t explain. I need to fix it, hmp. It’s fixed! You may now head to the music page to listen to my songs.

So I went out with co-workers last Friday. CRAZY PEOPLE. You decide if that’s a good or bad thing. At one part of the night I felt violated. I’m not kidding. But there’s a bunch of pics, just check my Multiply site (link is at the left sidebar).

Yesterday I hung out a bit at the UST gym. A friend of mine (who’s also a varsity player), kept making fun of me. DUDE. That issue you’re forcing on me and your room mate is SO OVER. ( But it was all in good fun, haha.

After basketball practice, I watched a basketball game with a friend/co-worker. This guy on one of the teams, drove me crazy (in a good way, mind you). He was on his team’s bench, when he saw me and waved! Then after the game, he approached me, held my hand, then let it linger. I don’t know what that means, I don’t even know if it means ANYTHING at all. All I know is when I realized what happened, I was happy :love:

Damn. Been watching to much of Kim Possible at 3 in the morning. That Ron Stoppable made me say “booyah” a couple of times already!

ANYWAY. Onto business…

1. David Cook & David Archuleta concert – It was AMAZING. I like them both but I never thought I’d SCREAM for Archie. And of course, DC rocked the house down. They did A Daily AntheM’s ending together. For concert media, check out: photos | tweets | videos
2. I’ve been having a stressful bunch of weeks lately. More than two weeks now! Today was especially horrifying. Not naming names or specifying what happened, but all I know is it was unfair. My office laptop’s charger is missing, office tasks were created then done then cancelled, a client from my 2nd job postponed something while another client won’t respond, and on top of that… MY SANDWICH WAS SOGGY! It was barely even a sandwich. I even cried. People thought I broke up with my boyfriend or something. I said, “I wish it was love I was having problems with!” I ended up buying a muffin from Starbucks to make myself feel better, and that’s low.
3. I absented myself from work last Thursday. Originally, I was going to watch basketball before work with a co-worker, but after I just went home for much needed rest. Like I said, too much stress!!! UST (my school) lost to State U that day, while FEU (my friends’ school) won over another college.
4. Spent Mother’s Day with the family. We were complete except for my sister-in-law who spent her day with her mom in the parlor. lol. I gave my mom a CD each of DC and Archie, and she loved them. My brother & his wife gave her a yummy-smelling lotion, my eldest sister & her husband brought food, and my other sister made pasta. My dad drove at 3 or 4am just to buy mom flowers, despite a throbbing, painful left foot. :love:
5. Been missing my friends. Saw a huge bunch of them lately! A lot during the concert, actually. It was pretty funny. Nothing like Idol 7 finalists to bring friends together unexpectedly!
6. And oh yeah. Love life. Hmm. Where am I heading? For me to know, and for you to find out (though that never really made sense to me, haha!)

On a side note, I’m feeling MUCH better now. A Starbucks muffin, a few good friends (including online ones), and music will always make me feel better. And when I got home, my mom heated some of the food she cooked yesterday–nothing like a home made meal. COMFORT FOOOOOOD

PS: Danny Gokey still rules. I love Kris Allen and Adam Lambert though. Who is it for you, Kris or Adam?

10 Things I Am Thankful For
(I got tagged by Queennie)

People often complain of what is not present. We often dwell on things we don’t have. Well, for a change I hope we can (even for a while) think of the great things we have. Hope you would share your thoughts too guys…

1. I am thankful for each day I’m alive. Especially back when I got REALLY sick on New Year’s Day this year… Back then, I really thought I might die. So yeah, I’m thankful I’m still alive.

2. I am thankful for being blessed with a beautiful family. They’re beautiful inside and out. They’re amazing and I love them so much.

3. I am also thankful for my true friends. They’ve been with me through thick and thin–through my bad days and not just my good ones. They support me, they understand me, and they make me happy. I hope I do the same for them

4. I am thankful for my two best friends, especially my first real best friend. Not that the second is less appreciated or anything… ;p I used to say I don’t like the term best friend but there really is one or two people you can’t help but be honest with and share everything with.

5. I am thankful for my health! I may be skinny-looking but I tell ya, I’m healthy! Thanks to being brought up by my family as a healthy eater. I love veggies, I love fruits, juices, cheeses, and meats/fowls that aren’t greasy. But I do love eating a couple of sweets here and then. But hey, it’s all in moderation

6. I am thankful for Herbalife! Seriously. It saved my family, both financially and health-wise. Thanks to their products, we are living healthier, no stress, we’re much happier, not much tension anymore, no more worries, and we know that Herbalife can not only give us health but also wealth!

7. I am thankful for my imperfections. I believe those make me who I am. “Unique just like everyone else” is quite paradoxical–nobody is ever the same. I learned never to be jealous, because I know that God made me this way and has given me the blessings I deserve and experiences I need to learn.

8. I am thankful for my job. It’s a good one, the pay is alright, and the workload isn’t always that bad. I’m quite enjoying myself and I’m getting the hang of it. The people aren’t so bad either… I’m quiet around them because, well, I’m still trying to get used to them (even if I’ve been here for about 8 months now).

9. I’m thankful for my God-given talents. I don’t have to enumerate what they are, but I’m thankful I can do those things that other people would kill to just be able to do for a day. I may sometimes feel the same way about others’ talents, but that’s what makes all of us special anyway

10. I am thankful for finishing my education. Not everybody gets this privilege, especially because education costs a lot of money. I’m glad I did well and graduated on time despite the fact that I didn’t really try so hard. I know I could’ve done better during the latter part (esp. in high school and some parts of college), but I did enjoy (most of) my years as a student. I earned friends and experiences along the way as well!

The guy who never fails to call me “Brian Ilad” (the reason, I keep forgetting). May nicknames na nga yan saken eh. Brye, Ilad, Berayan… you name it! Hayup sa patawa. Pati gf dinadamay sa kalokohan (pareho daw bang magdemand ng chocolate sa friend ko… haha). Stay cool & funny tsong!

Mr. Californayay! Haha. Mr. “I’m always online sa Facebook” =p This guy never fails to greet me whenever our paths cross. Kamukha ni JayR (the singer). Napagkamalan pa ng guest nung party ko as JayR, actually! Hehe. Nice, masipag and talented. Keep it up!

Treasured friend ko to. We may not seem close, bihira pa magkatext, but the things he’s done for me simply can’t be repaid that easily. A true gentleman off court, and a funny guy as well. Best sense of humor (next to Bou, haha). Love this guy, someone I can consider a best friend if he lets me.

Mr. “Pa-update ng Ipod” part two. Haha twin towers nga kayo ni Badong. The guy who has no cares when changing clothes kahit may tao sa room, palibhasa model. Haha. Joke lang, Ciz! But seriously, this guy has an amaaaaazing voice! Have you heard him sing?! My goodness, he beats Alex Band of The Calling, any day. Rock on, Ciz!

Duuuuude. You’ve cheered me up in more ways than you know. When this old person was pissing me off, this guy somehow came to the rescue without even knowing it. Basta nung isang dinner ng Tigers sya nag scoop ng icecream para saken kasi ang lampa ko. That was enough to make me smile kasi feeling ko wala akong kakampi nung gabing yon. Thanks, Chuck!

Japsee, captain ball. Sorry if we had some weird “ilangan” moments for a while. Whatever happened, I honestly don’t know how it started. I’m just glad na okay ka w/ me & a certain group of friends of mine na medyo nailang ka after a certain incident. You’re one awesome, awesome baller. One of the best point guards I’ve seen in a while. Stay humble, and stay happy!

One of the first rookies this batch na nakilala ko. Maginoo pero medyo bastos. LOL! This guy can be nice, but can be really annoying at times. But I guess that’s part of his charm, if you can call it that. Basta, yan si Carlos. Patawa, simpleng gago, pero mabait. Salamat sa pagtama sa mukha ni…..YUN NA YON! Hahaha ;p

Woist Jervyboy!!! Haha. My mom’s superfave Tiger. The bungisngis king, a “gentle giant” to many. Hayup sa mga patawa, salamat sa panghahamon saken ng laban ha! Hindi ako takot sayo oi! Hehe. One of the best rookies I’ve seen in a while. I guess it just wasn’t his time to shine this year because of that dreaded ACL injury. Pero pare, it brought you closer to me & many other people. Yung kaka-visit ko sayo sa hospital, sincere yon. I really see great potential in you, so I hope you’ll heal really quick so you can show the world what you’re capable of! Mr. Slam Dunk!!! Also has a great sense of humor. ALASKADOR! Haha =p

Really nice kid! Buti nalang nakilala ka na namen before the season ended! I’ve yet to see you play college ball, hindi ka rin kasi masyadong pinapasok nung summer eh. Basta I believe in you and your talent, kaya sana wag ka nang mapula ang mata at mukha pag labas ng dugout. Be that bungisngis kid you are!

Aw, man… I’ll miss this guy sooo much! Kung bakit kasi one and out ka!!! You’re one of the truest friends sa Tams. Always there, ang daling patawanin, and minsan may pagka-emo pero may pagka-payaso din at the same time. Gulo no? Don’t ever give up playing ball, and don’t give up on love. Hehe

ROOOOON!!! One of the best guys in the team when it comes to making me laugh. Pero ang hirap niyang patawanin pag sad ha… But anyway, he’s super kalog. Great player na, great friend pa. Super sweet, lakas magpatawa, and super kulit sa teammates. Kung mang trip at kung tumawa, akala mo wala nang bukas (teammate na niya nagsabi niyan!). Haha. The second guy I’ve met sa batch na ‘to ng Tams. PBL kasi, teammate niya si Badong sa Mail & More. Since then, buking-buking ang abot ko sa kanya! Buti nalang the guy I like wasn’t paying attention nun, pero kulang nalang ipagsigawan ni Mac sa buong Arena! Haha. But he’s a really nice guy. Comedy. I enjoy watching this guy play ’cause he’s got so much heart, and he’s my friend’s idol pa. And him getting shot? Almost not an obstacle. Lakas ng will power, bilib ako! So more power and God bless to Mac Attack ;p

The truest Tam I know. Fave player & idol ko, since the Baby Tams days pa. Man, you’ve changed so much sa looks, pero sa ugali as far as I know he’s still the same. Super nice, super sweet & super true. Lakas din mang trip, lalo when it comes to my crush, iinggitin at iinggitin ako niyan! Oh diba. Che! Haha. Mr. Most Improved player and my candidate for Best Defensive Player! A guy I can consider as a best friend, this guy sure knows how to cheer me up. Kahit minsan Tigers-related o player-related ang himutok ko, parati akong napapatawa neto. Kahit minsan pa ay sa kanya ako bwisit, napapatawa parin ako. PESTE!!! Haha. This is freaky. Someone just broke news to me late last night/early this morning. As in nanginig ako sa galit. I kinda saw this coming. But STILL!!! It shocked me to the nth level! So laking gulat ko when I saw my horoscope sa Friendster. Tsk tsk. I have to fix this, after all I’ve treated that person like a best friend.
